Three boys drowned in the Jhelum on Tuesday after their boat capsized.
Police identified the deceased as Anzar Wani son of Farooq Ahmad Wani; Tufail Ahmad Shagoo son of Abdul Rashid Shagoo, and Shahid Ahmad Shah son of Muhammad Syed Shah.
Witnesses said five boys aged between 12 and 15 took the boat for a ride across the river. However, th>e boat collided with a stationary dredging boat and capsized.
Several civilians passing by jumped into the river but despite their efforts only two of the boys, Azaan and Junaid, could be saved.
Baramulla police and State Disaster Relief Force personnel are searching for the bodies of the drowned boys.
